Training

Youth Protection Training

All registered adult leaders and volunteers who have contact with Scouts must take Youth Protection Training ("YPT"). While good for 2 years from the date of completion, Chester County Council requires that the training must be current during the entire charter period. This, in effect requires the training to be taken each year.

Adult Leader Training

Parents who are registering as Assistant Scoutmasters of Troop 181 need to take the following courses in ordered to be fully trained:

  • Youth Protection Training (online)

  • Fast Start (online)

  • This is Scouting (online)

  • Scoutmaster Specific Training

  • Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills

The first three courses above can be taken online (click here) and the remaining two are offered periodically by Chester County Council. See the schedule for upcoming courses and dates.

Supplementary Training

Some additional training is required for certain Scout activities. For example, when swimming is planned on a camping trip, an adult on the trip must be training in Safe Swim Defense, Safety Afloat, and CPR. See Council's Adult Training Continuum for more information.
